The book launch of IT’S BECAUSE I LOVE YOU ~ ONE WOMAN’S STORY OF LOVE, LOSS AND ROCK ‘N’ ROLL was a magical evening of family, friends and celebration.
Held on 1st November, 2024, it was no coincidence that this auspicious date was chosen to launch my long-awaited book, alongside the release of Caledonia, the “lost” album by Jim Keays and the DVD release of our Masters Apprentices documentary, Turn Up Your Video.
1st November, 2024 was also the 21st Birthday of our son, William (Billy) Keays. The book launch, which is centred around Billy’s birth and tragic death, along with the release of Jim’s album and DVD, was the perfect opportunity to celebrate and honour our beloved son on what would have been his coming of age.
It was a joyous gathering in the romantic courtyard of the Emerald Hotel, with Prosecco on arrival, canapés and Jim’s music playing in the background. The impeccable Jeffrey Phillips was MC for the evening, taking me through my first ever author Q&A. Jeffrey then led the full house of family and friends in singing a rousing rendition of Happy Birthday to Billy for his 21st before the magnificent celebration cake was cut by Bonnie and myself.
My heartfelt gratitude to everyone who came along to celebrate with our family, to Jeff Phillips for adding his charm and professionalism to the occasion, and very special thanks to my amazing support team: my partner Michael, Carmen, Maysa, Martine, Marcus, Iris and Michelle from Borgs Cakes. Many thanks to the Emerald Hotel for providing the perfect venue, catering and service on this beautiful evening.
